Volunteer Training

The New Denver Hospice Society offers a Volunteer Training Program bi annually.  Our program is based on the British Columbia Hospice/Palliative Care Association and consists of 7 modules. The modules are covered in 4 complete days which may be offered over a 4 week period or 2 weekends.

The training is a certificate program preparing people to become volunteers with Hospice. Our program is also open to people wanting to attend for personal growth and knowledge which they apply into their personal and/or professional lives. We often hear back from people that the course has served them many times. Many people on our volunteer team say that volunteering with hospice has been one of their most meaningful experiences.

The Seven Modules are:

  • Pain
  • Personal and Practical Care
  • Psychosocial and Spiritual Care
  • Loss and Grief
  • Communication
  • Self Care
  • Principles of Hospice Palliative Care
Note: You do not need to have filled out a Volunteer Application to complete the training.  You will be given the option to apply as a volunteer following the training program.
